PGSharp Rooted Edition: The subscription option with a real support desk

Visit the PGSharp Rooted Edition website

PGSharp is the most commercially run client in the category — monthly billing, a support desk and a beta key programme. The rooted setup is about durability, not extra features.

    What 'Rooted Edition' actually means

PGSharp is best known as an unrooted spoofer, which is exactly why it is detected more readily — an unrooted install leans on Android's mock-location provider, and the game can see that a mock provider is active.

Running it on a rooted device with Magisk 30.7 hiding changes the picture: the coordinates look like an ordinary GPS fix and the root manager stays out of the game's view. The feature set is the same; the survival rate is not.

    • Joystick, autowalk, enhanced throw and custom GPX routes
    • Encounter and inventory IV, caught preview, nearby radar
    • Quick catch, block non-shiny and auto transfer on catch (Standard Edition)
    • Published release notes and a support desk
    • Subscription billing rather than one-off keys

    Subscription maths

PGSharp's free tier already covers teleport, joystick, autowalk, enhanced throw, encounter and inventory IV, caught preview, custom GPX and the 100 IV feed. Standard Edition is $5 a month, covers three phones, and adds the full coordinate feeds, quick catch, skipped animations, block non-shiny and auto transfer on catch.

We do not resell PGSharp licences; the phones we ship are set up so a subscription you buy directly works on a hidden-root device.

    PGSharp Rooted Edition mod updates

Reviewed 28/08/2026. What changed recently, what breaks most often, and how to stay out of trouble.

    Recent changes

    1. August 2026

Client rebuild following the August game update

PGSharp publishes a version per game build — the current release is 1.263.0 (game 0.417.6-G), shipped 16 July 2026, with a dedicated launcher download for rooted Android. Release notes accompany each rebuild, which makes it easier to tell whether a failure is your setup or theirs.

    2. July 2026

      Detection pressure on unrooted installs

Unrooted installs continue to be the weak point. Running the same client on a hidden-root device is the practical mitigation.

    3. May 2026

      Beta key availability tightened

Free beta keys are scarcer and rate-limited. The free tier remains the realistic no-cost option; plan on $5 a month for the Standard Edition features.

    Safety notes

    • Spoofing breaks Niantic's Terms of Service. Every client on this page carries a real ban risk — use an account you could afford to lose.
    • Only install builds from the developer's own site or Discord. Repackaged APKs on aggregator sites are the most common source of credential theft in this scene.
    • Never sign into a modded client with your main Pokémon GO account's password on a device you did not set up yourself.
    • Keep Magisk 30.7 hiding and the Pokémon GO denylist entry intact. Once hiding fails, mod clients stop working — often silently rather than with an error.
    • PGSharp is heavily impersonated — 'PGSharp free download' pages are among the most common malware traps in this category. Use the official site only.
    • A subscription and a support desk do not reduce ban risk. Niantic's Terms of Service apply the same way.

PGSharp Rooted Edition alternatives worth considering

    • iPogo

$5 a month, no subscription, faster post-update rebuilds.

    • Shungo

If you want automation rather than a joystick.

    • PolygonX

Automation of the official client instead of a modified one.

    PGSharp Rooted Edition FAQs

    Is PGSharp safe?

The official client is not malware, but it breaks Niantic's Terms of Service and accounts do get banned. Fake download sites are the bigger practical danger.

Can you get banned for using PGSharp?

Yes. Unrooted installs are the most exposed because the game can detect an active mock-location provider; hidden root reduces that specific signal but removes no risk entirely.

What are the best PGSharp alternatives?

iPogo for a cheaper monthly licence and faster rebuilds, PokeMod for configurability on rooted devices, Shungo for automation, PolygonX for Patreon-billed automation of the stock client.

Does PGSharp work on a rooted phone?

Yes, and it is more durable there provided Magisk 30.7 hiding is configured with Pokémon GO on the denylist — which is how our devices ship.
